What Causes Urinary Incontinence Post Intake Of Methylprednisolone Tablets?

My 16 yr old son was prescribed methylprednisolone tablets for virus yesterday. After taking the 2nd dose, he is now having trouble urinating, with some leakage. Can this medication have this type of side effect? His doctor didn t think so, thought it was possibly dehydration.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I too think the troubles he is having urinating with some leakage is not due to methylprednisolone but due to a possible complication of virus infection, he has been prescribed methylprednisolone.

So, I think should run urine analysis first to determine the right diagnosis. Should keep well hydrated, drink plenty of water with oral rehydration salts, soups, tea, etc.

Discuss this further with his caring doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
