What Causes Urinary Incontinence In The Elderly?

I am 89 years old and I am having a difficulty empying my bladder. It starts out and then slows down. When I go to bed at night I have to get up every hour or two to urinate. Could this be a problem with my prostate. Can I take a homeopathic solution for this? I take NO prescriptions. I do take vitamins. The only other problem that I have is itching. The doctor said dry skin, but nothing helps and this condition has went on for two months now. I have done lotions and have seen 3 doctors for this and they just pass it off as dry skin. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Please do an urine analysis to check for infection which can cause this problem. Possibly it can be an infection causing the urge to urinate. If it is not an infection you can visit an urologist to consider incontinence.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
