What Causes Urinary Incontinence In An Autism Child?

my son has autism. he takes supplements - multi vitamins; curcumin, it D and omega 3 s and 6 s oil (Body Bio oil. He never seems to need to pee when he s in the van to school. But when he wants to escape an activity he asks to urinate. We went to a concert tonight. He needed before the concert. He peed at intermission and had to leave the concert hall early to pee again. I don t get it.....when he s doing something he enjoys he can last hours......when not, he asks to use the bathroom

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The fact that there are periods where he does not need to urinate frequently implies that this frequency is psychogenic- meaning it is not due to a physical problem.

Anxiety, stress or any emotional distress can affect urinary frequency so this may be the case for him.
When he is in a setting that he is comfortable, happy and relaxed, he holds his urine.
He is capable of doing it but does not.

If he sees a psychologist, they may be able to help with this.

I hope this helps
