What Causes Urethral Pain After Urination And Pressure In The Pelvic Region?

I am 55 year old male. Recently I ve had pain after I have urinated. Not in my penis, but rather its behind. It feels like I still have to go for some time after there is still pressure in my pelvic area. No burning sensation when I m actually going....the urine stream seem to be fine.....just feels like I need to go again!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Your symptoms indicate a possible prostate enlargement.
*do you have any pain in your abdomen?
*do you have any fever?
*what colour is your urine?
*how are your stools? Are you constipated?
*do you smoke or consume alcohol?
*do you have any other medical issues or take any medications?

I recommend :
-a physician consult /urologist opinion
-an ultrasound abdomen of the abdomen and measurement of post voidal Residual volume (volume of urine remaining in bladder after you urinate).
-blood tests (total wbc count, differential was count, prostate specific antigen)
-urine analysis

Based on these we can arrive at a diagnosis.
Make sure you drink plenty of water (enough to make your urine light yellow),unless you have any medical contraindication not to do so.

See your doctor ASAP to check for prostate enlargement or bladder inflammation.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
