What Causes Upper Back Pain?

I am having upper back pain. It happens when I m sitting for a while. Just started having this pain about a week ago. Its located in my upper back above my right shoulder blade. It feels like a sharp stinging sensation. What could be causing this? I have a doctor appointment next week going to have him take a look.

Hello,

Pain in the upper back is usually the result of poor posture, muscle overuse, or injury. Treatment may include home remedies, such as rest and gentle exercises, or possibly seeing a physical therapist. You can also use anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
