What Causes Unpleasant Vaginal Odour And Menstrual Cramps After Having Unsafe Sex?

I have a strong smelling fishy odour for 3 weeks now from my vagina. And also have discomfort like period pain. I have only had it since I have unprotected sex with my new partner who has strong smelling semen. I had a itchy vagina and discharge last week so I treated it with thrush meds but the pain and smell have gotten unbearable. I can smell myself and so can my partner. Please help

General & Family Physician 's  Response
I welcome you at my virtual clinic!

Thanks for consulting me at HealthCare Magic. I have worked through your case thoroughly, and I can easily realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as things will settle down very soon.

Causes of your condition may be:
1.Bacterial infection (unhealthy bacteria grow more than the healthy normal bacteria that reside inside vagina).
2.Sexually Transmitted Disease
3.yeast Infection- causes being unprotected intercourse and weakened immune system.

I have collected data from majority of my female patients regarding their habits at home & based on that I can suggest a few tips for preventing and treating vaginal irritation at home:-
Avoid scented pads or toilet paper, creams, bubble bath, feminine sprays, and douches.
Use water and a plain, unscented soap to regularly clean your external genital area. But don't wash more than once a day. Doing so can increase dryness.
Always wipe from front to back after having a bowel movement.
Wear cotton panties (no synthetic fabrics), and change your underwear every day.
Do not douche.
Use condoms during sexual intercourse to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
If you are experiencing vaginal dryness, use a vaginal moisturizer. Apply a water-based lubricant (K-Y Gel) before having sex.
Avoid sexual intercourse until your symptoms improve.
Don't scratch -- you can further irritate the area.

Probable Diagnosis:-
In your case it looks like Bacterial Vaginosis (BV).

Medication guide:-
If I was your treating physician I would have prescribed you with Metronidazole by mouth and MetroGel-Vaginal to apply inside the vagina. Take Loratadine for itching. If you have redness and itch outside vagina you may apply Hydrocortisone cream to get fast relief.

May you get very well soon and have a wonderful time ahead. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback to help us assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful' & give a five Stars too. Write a review about your experience with me.
