What Causes Unexplained Swelling In Toes?

I am a 41 year old female with no medical issues (125obs). My pinky toes has been swollen and red for about two weeks. I did not have any injury and just to make sure, I had an xray that was negative. It hurts to put pressure on it. I feel it when I walk, and even just sitting down. I am unable to run or do any sort of higher level activity.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a finger infection. I suggest to use a painkiller such as Ibuprofen three times a day. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application. Antibiotics may be needed to treat the infection, so I recommend to consult your doctor for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
