What Causes Uncontrolled Shaking Of The Body?

My husband has Alzheimer s and is in a nursing home. He is getting Seroquel 25 mg. 3 times a day and depakote, but I don t know the dosage on depakote. Think that us 3 times a day too. In the last week, he has had episodes of his whole body shaking uncontrollably--lasts for about a minute. Tonite he had at least 7 episodes. Could this be due to the meds?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Tremors are a known side effects of both Seroquel and Depakote. Though Seroquel causes tremors only in a case of overdose, Depakote can result in tremors even in prescription dosage.
The tremors stop when the drug is stopped or dosage is reduced.
I suggest you consult with his doctor regarding changing the medicines or reducing the dosage if the tremors are really severe and disturbing.

Hope this answers your questions, thank you.
