What Causes Tiny Itchy White Lumps Inside The Eyelids?

Hi dear Doctor, I am having tiny white bumps inside my lower eyelids. A few weeks ago, I noticed these tiny white bumps inside my lower eye lid because it itches when I wear contact lenses, feels like there s eyelash there or something in my eye. I am currently in South America, speaking poor English, so I am having trouble getting proper medical attention. I went to see a doctor in a small clinic first, he prescribed me Oftagen Compuesto for 3 days, which I used and made my eyes very red and feeling pressure all around my eye balls. So I went into a public hospital, and the doctor told me it was conjunctivitis and prescribed me Tobralep Tobraminica 0.3% for 7 days. After a week, the swelling and redness are gone. My eyes feel a lot more comfortable and there were goos coming out of my eye during that period. But the tiny bumps inside my lower eyelids did not go away, and still itchy from time to time. So I went into another eye specialized hospital. The doctor told me my eyes are healthy and those white bumps are normal. It s just that my eyes are dry because of heat and air condition so I should use tear eye drops for 6 times a day every other 2 hours. As I ve been following the instruction, it s been 3 days now and I just noticed more white bumps appearing inside my left lower eyelid. And the skin around the bumps look fairly red. Are they really normal? or should I go see a doctor again, but a different doctor? Someone on internet suggests it s cyst and I should see a dermatologist. I am scared because I am in a foreign country not speaking the language properly. Please help me sort this out. Thank you!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have tiny itchy white lumps inside the eyelids . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like eye allergies , conjunctivitis , styes , chalazion or injuries. I would suggest you to wash your eyes with cold water several times a day , put corticosteroid eye drops in your eyes and take over the counter anti histamine like benadryl twice a day . Protect you skin and eyes from direct sun rays ,which can further complicate the situation. If condition doesn't get better then consult ophthalmologist for proper diagnosis and treatment . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with anti inflammatory and antibiotics . Do not apply any cosmetic product on face and put methyl cellulose eye drops in eye to prevent dryness .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
