What Causes Tinnitus And Blurred Vision While Driving?
Good Evening- I was driving long distance today returning home from visiting my elderly parents, and for about 5-10 sec once while i was driving, I had a sensation of an increase in the ringing in my ears, my vision dimmed and i almost felt as if I was almost starting to be suffocated, and then just as quickly the sensation went away. I opened my window for some fresh air and felt ok for the rest of the day. But it was the oddest sensation i ve ever had while driving. For a second or 2, I almost contemplated pulling over to the side of the road. I am 59-1/2 and in very good health. Do you have any thoughts what this might have been? bws

Tinnitus is a common issue and most causes are benign and temporary. However, this lasts for a longer period then it should be evaluated.
Tinnitus can occur due to causes like chronic ear infection, perforated eardrum, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma, etc.
Tinnitus is not a disease in itself but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness.
I would suggest you consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, X-Ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti-anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised.
