What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Small And Ring Fingers?

I have numerous symptoms, tingling in right pinkie and ring finger, randomly. When this happens, I have no grip strength. Left hand is often very cold, while right hand is warm and clammy. Pain across my back, under shoulder blades, just above when my bra strap crosses my back. Overall pain, not just in joints, but entire abdomen, also random. Pain seems to begin just under right rib cage. I can only sleep in 2-3 hour naps, then I am wide awake. Doctor prescribed 10mg nortriptiline, --I am able to fall asleep earlier, but don t sleep more than 2-3 hours before waking. I ve have had a runny nose, constantly for over a year. mucinex, sinus rinses, etc, do not help. I am tired of being sick and tired.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

According to your symptoms, it looks like there is compression of nerve in cervical [neck area] spine. This leads to numbness and tingling in your hand. You may need to take X-ray of the spine to see for severity of nerve compression. Some medication like Methylcobalamine with muscle relaxant and analgesic will help, you can take them consulting your treating doctor.

Some exercises which can be done after pain has reduced include:-
* Gradual neck rotation
* Touching your ears to shoulder
* Shoulder shrugging exercises

You may consult a physiotherapist for further guidance. He may start interference therapy, ultrasonic therapy, which are helpful in your case.

Some life style modifications for you:–
* Take a break every 40 mins from sitting and do some neck rotation, stretches, walk and get back to work.
* Sit with taking support to your neck, do not use thick pillow in bed.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care.
