What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Body After Taking Amitiza?
I was just prescribes Amitiza for IBS. I took the pill this morning and about 4 hrs later I had a tingling sensation like a bunch of needles poking my body. it started in my head and traveled down my body. My face, neck and body and extremities all turned red. It lasted 15+ minutes. This is new for me. Is it a side effect or do I need to see my doctor to find out what is causing this. It was not listed as a side effect on the product information
The effect looks to be related to the drug. Many times our body responds to new drug causing such feelings. If you are fine now, and no weakness etc then there no need to worry. It was likely to be related to the drug. I hope this would be finishing as you continue with the drug.
Certain side effects are not common and are not listed in the list of side effects but a drug can cause any side effect as the reaction is different from person to person.
If it was too much, you may use the lower drug for the first few days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
