What Causes Tingling Sensation All Over Body And Dizziness After Head Injury?

Hi. I hit my head while I was slightly intoxicated and I fell down but don t remember loosing consciousness but I felt a tingling sensation go through my whole body. I got up almost instantly and sat down as i was dazed but I could walk and everything and was feeling dizzy. As I said I was intoxicated so I probably didn t feel much. I m probably sure it s a concussion but is there any way I can rule out a brain injury without going to the doc. To be exact I had Around 4-5 beers before I got on the board. I ve been sleeping fine and not feeling nauseous or haven t vomited although my head still hurts and two days later I still feel a little dizzy during the day. As mentioned it s only been 2 days. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It's always best to err on the side of caution when it comes to head injuries, especially if you are experiencing ongoing symptoms like tingling and dizziness. While a concussion is a form of traumatic brain injury, it is typically considered less severe than other forms of brain injury, such as bleeding or swelling in the brain. However, only a healthcare provider can assess the extent of your injury and determine whether you need further evaluation or treatment.

I would recommend seeking medical attention as soon as possible, particularly if your symptoms worsen or persist. Your healthcare provider may conduct a neurological exam, which can help identify any issues with your brain function. Additionally, they may recommend imaging tests like a CT or MRI to rule out more serious injuries.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
