What Causes Tightness In The Chest While Coughing?

I have taking montelukast for almost a month now. At first I thought it was working but I was also taking 10mg of prednisone for 5 days. My asthma did not get better so my dr gave me 5 more prednisone. I finally felt some relief but now I cough a lot with tightness in my chest and seems like my asthma just won t stop. I can not even sleep thru the night.
