What Causes Tightness In Knee With Slight Numbness?

knee is tight - no pain. Feels tight around the joint and when sitting in a chair for a while, the top area of my knee has a slight sensation of numbness- (not tingling like it has gone to sleep)- but the feeling of no feeling at the top above the cap. I have a distinct knot I can feel in the back of the left knee on the inside portion of the knee just immediately below the joint. Again no pain - just tight. I m thinking some sort of cyst that has attached to a muscle?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

It is quite possible and we could start with a physical examination of course, followed by an xray of the region. A few maneuvers to check on the ligaments can also be performed, just in case as we do not even have to invest any money in those tests there is no harm in ruling those out. If the xray provides us with sufficient information to move forward then great, but if not then we should go ahead with an MRI of the knee for final confirmation/ruling out of the diagnosis.

Best wishes.
