What Causes Tightness And Feeling Of Having A Lump In The Throat?

My husband gets an on & off again tightness of the throat, like a lump in the throat. He visited an ENT specialist, who looked down his throat and could see nothing. The ENT said it was stress, however the tightness is very irratic, not causing pain just annoying. This morning he tried not to talk, giving the vocal cords a rest, as soon as he got up this morning, after having a long rest in bed, the lump feeling was back. He said he felt relief when he was eating

This can also be related to gastro esophageal reflux. He may need to visit a gastroenterologist to get checked. The stomach fluids from stomach can go to irritate the esophageal mucosa and also, the pharynx.
