What Causes Tight Sensation And Swelling In The Neck After A Surgery?

had carotid artery surgery on both sides of neck. One in September 2016 and the other October 2016. Still having tightness on the sides and some swelling. Seem to get a run around with the doctors. Would you have an answer as to why, is this normal after 6 months? Also have slight swelling all around and feeling like a gob of something in throat.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is quite common after such procedures and will be due to postoperative inflammatory changes.

If symptoms persist better to consult a physician and get evaluated. An ultrasound neck is required to rule out any possible hematoma.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
