What Causes Throat Discomfort And Headache After Choking On Water?

Last night I got choked while drinking some water and inhaled some water. I couldn t breathe and had a very difficult time quitting coughing. Entire episode took about an hour. Haven t felt normal since then. Feel like I have something stuck in my throat & I am having episodes of sharp pain on the right front side of my head. Piercing pains. Also had a headache earlier today. Hadn t had any of these issues before the choking episode last night.

Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I reviewed your query and here is advise.
All are side effects of chocking. Your throat is in pain due to intense cough reflex.
There is nothing to worry since this can happen to anyone and water is absorbed in lumgs.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
