What Causes Thickening Of The Terminal Ileum?

I just learned that I have a thickening of the terminal ileum. I m 68 and have had no prior issues that might be related to this (no diagnosed IBS or Chrons and no malignancies anywhere). That said - when my father died (80+) autopsy showed that he had lymphoma. What are the best-worst case diagnoses for me?

Thickness of terminal ileum can be due to many reasons. Like localized trivial infection and tuberculosis, malignancies like lymphoma, appendicitis, inflammatory bowels diseases like Chrons. The best diagnosis can be obtained by a colonoscopy and biopsy from the ileum. But, that is not indicated always. Only if you develop features of intestinal obstruction like pain, vomiting and blood and excess mucous in the stools. Also if there is a significant weight loss, a palpable mass in the right lower abdomen, recurrent fever, you need to be evaluated.
