What Causes The Inability To Move The Feet After A Vaginal Hysterectomy?

Hi, My daughter had a vaginal hysterectomy last Wednesday. From the moment she started to recover she would not feel or move her foot. She has movement and feeling in the thigh and knee. Is this typical. Will the nerve damage persist. Should the hospital help her pay for rehab?

Hello,

These symptoms could be related to local anesthesia adverse effects. If the problem persists in the next days, consulting with a neurologist may be needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
