What Causes The Hearing Of One's Own Heartbeat In The Ear?

FOR MORE THAN EIGHT MONTHS, i have been able to hear my heartbeat in my ear. I have had my ears checked for buildup and have had the arteries in my neck checked by LifeLine Screening, neither of which resulted in any problems being found. I am a 61 year old female.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your suffering from pulsatile tinnitus caused by ear block or conductive deafness or anemia, beri beri or hypertension or glomus tumor of the ear or vascular aneurysms or drugs etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use masking device, avoid spicy food and alcohol, avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
