What Causes The Habit Of Bed Wetting In A Child?

Hi my son is turning 9 in March and he still wets his bed everyday...with a few exceptions. I would want to believe there is an element of genes coz I stopped wetting my bed late....and my mother in law says my husband stopped wetting his bed around 10yrs or so. Is there a way of dealing with this regardless of it being genetic?? It bothers my son and soon they will be starting school trips

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Bed wetting could continue in some children for quite a long time. It is not genetic in origin. It is mainly physiological to make up their mind for proper adaptation.
Behavioral therapy would certainly help them to overcome this problem. Also any other associated medical problems if present needs evaluation.
Kindly consult Psychiatrist or Pediatrician in this regard for proper advise.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
