Hi
Thanks for posting your query.
I appreciate your concern for the sensation of worms in the
rectum.
Features are suggestive of reinfection of thread/
pinworms.
Repeated infections should be treated by the same method as the first infection. In households where more than one member is infected or where repeated, symptomatic infections occur, it is recommended that all household members be treated at the same time
The medications used for the treatment of pinworm are
mebendazole,
pyrantel pamoate, and
albendazole. All three of these drugs are to be given in 1 dose at first and then another single dose 2 weeks later.
The medication does not reliably kill pinworm eggs. Therefore, the second dose is to prevent re-infection by adult worms that hatch from any eggs not killed by the first treatment
Successful eradication of pinworm infection requires at least 3 doses of medication, separated by 3 weeks.
After you have completed a course of 3 doses of the the medications, follow-up examination is necessary to evaluate for reinfection.
All your family members must be treated simultaneously.
In addition, personal and group hygiene must be improved, you must wash your hands before eating and after using toilets and children should be discouraged from activities such as finger-sucking and their finger nails should be trimmed.
Hope these suggestions could be useful in getting the successful eradication of pinworms.
Take care.
A feed back is appreciated.
