For awhile now I ve had a feeling of a lump in my throat on the left side. About 2 months ago I called 911; I honestly thought I was going to die because my airway became suddenly blocked for an uncomfortably long period of time. I was dx with GERD and when I told an ER doc that I felt I needed an endoscopy, my request was not considered. Today, also on the left side, I noticed my tonsil is red and swollen. It is hard and painless. I have an appt with my new family MD in one week, but I am freaking out. I do have a history of smoking (about a pack a week for 15 years) and drinking (increased amount - almost daily - in 2014 due to stress r/t job; I have a better job now and my drinking has been drastically reduced). I have recently quit both due to my fears as of late. I know you cannot diagnose me with anything but please give me some hope that it may not be cancer!!
