What Causes The Feeling Of Accumulated Air In Chest While Lying On The Left Side?

Hi, if someone is lying on his right side and has no pain and they switch to their left side and they say it feels like they have bubbles in their chest, what could this be? He says it is fine in any other position, but only experiences this when he is laying on his left side.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Was there any history of fall, trauma, skin infection there or any injections in the recent past? This can happen in subcutaneous emphysema(air trapping in subcutaneous space), which usually follows the above incidents and unlikely to happen spontaneously in an otherwise healthy individual. Kindly discuss with your doctor if in doubt, as this can easily found out on palpation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
