What Causes The Eyeball To Frequently Shift Towards The Nose?

I have a female friend in her mid -50s. Have noticed that her right eye will sometimes shift quickly toward her nose and then return to normal. She says she doesn t notice it. Denies any headaches, visual problems, aura, etc. Is this a problem or just a quirk?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The shift of eyeballs towards the nose may be due to Strabismus. Esotropia is the type of strabismus that causes one or both the eyes to turn towards the nose.

Your friend should see an Eye specialist & get clinically examined. She may need a pair of glasses, surgery or vision therapy(eye drops & eye exercises).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
