What Causes The Eyeball To Be Askew In Position While Looking Forward?

When you notice a change in the position of your eyes can it signify any health issue brewing? In all of my recent photos, I noticed when looking forward my left eye is where it should be but my right eye looks askew to the right. I did not notice any difference in my vision. I just noticed the change in eye position and it looks a bit odd. I just purchased some reading glasses that are a bit on the strong side. Could that be the cause?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If you are not born with this “feature” you should see a neurologist. The dis-coordination of the eye’s position, or unnatural eye movements, are often a sign for a neurological condition. The neurologist will first check same basic functions, then most likely order an EEG (brainwave measurement) and an MRI (or CT) of the brain. It is very important to take this very (!) seriously, it has definitely nothing to do with not well adjusted glasses. I’m sure a seasoned neurologist will find out quickly what might be the underlying cause and ways to treat it.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
