General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Mirena can cause weight gain due to hormonal changes. So, in my opinion the symptoms seem to be related to side effects of Mirena. If the weight gain continue, you can consult your gynecologist for other possible options of birth control.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
