What Causes Swollen Tonsils Despite Taking Zithromax And Augmentin?
Hi I am 33years old. I have had tonsillitis for over a year now. I have taken several antibiotics, zithromax, augmentine, biomegracin. My ENT and medic says I should not be worried. Use to have sore throats but recently there is no pain only the sensation of the swollen tonsil. What do I do
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Swollen tonsils even after taking antibiotics indicates that the infection could have been subsided, but the oedema of tissue has not come down. You can take decongestant syrup containing chlorpheniramine maleate and phenylephrine. Also, do salt water gargling with warm water twice a day. You can also take medicated lozenges to soothen your throat. Your symptoms should subide gradually. In case, it still persists, you can go for its removal by undergoing 'tonsillectomy'. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
