What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes And Spitting Blood Post Tonsils Removal?
I had my tonsils removed last year in august ...now my lymph nodes in my neck swelled up and I start spitting blood , it felt and looked as if I swallowed a golf ball , I did everything without medical attention now the lymph node on the right side of my neck swelled up as if I swallowed a golf ball . I m not sure what it is so I can treat it better. What are your thoughts ?
It is quite common after tonsillectomy and is due to minor bleeding and collected blood from tonsilar fossa. Gargling with cold water will provide symptomatic relief.
The swollen nodes indicate minor infection or inflammation at the surgical sites. A a short course of antibiotics may be started empirically.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
