What Causes Swollen Clitoris After Having Sex?

On Sunday I went on a on hike with my boyfriend In jeans and lace underwear, clearly a bad choice. And Monday morning I woke up and didn t notice that my clitorus was swollen. It wasn t til after sex with my boyfriend that morning that I even noticed it. There is no pain, just swollen and a little more sensitive to touch, but not painful. I went to planned parenthood to have it checked out and she said it just looks irritated but she doesn t know why. She said the tip looks a little raw but there aren t any bumps or anything. She said to come back if any bumps or lesions come up. Any suggestions? Maybe just irritated from the sex or the underwear rubbing on it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sometimes it happens. It's normal if gone in 3-4 days, apply cool wet compress or oatmeal based lotion, if more itching then tab Benadryl symptomatically.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
