What Causes Swollen And Painful Feet After Thyroid Surgery?
August 26,2015 I had thyroid surgery, the entire thyroid has been removed and I was started on meds to supplement the hormone. The bottoms of my feet swell, feels like bee strings all over the bottom of my feet making it painful to walk and it itches so bad I can hardly stand it. Through the month since starting the medication this moves from my feet to the palms of my hands, to my knees and elbows. Could this be from the medications?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swollen and painful feet after thyroid surgery. Well the symptoms you mention in query are probably result of post thyroid surgery complications like hypocalcemia , airway obstruction due to compressing hematoma or trachiomalacia , laryngeal nerve injury or wound infection . I would suggest you to consult your surgeon again for proper evaluation of the condition . and treatment . Doctor will examine physically or order CT scan or MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics at least for a week along with anti inflammatory . Doctor may also consider er surgery or drain if there is pus due to infection .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
