What Causes Swelling Under The Eyes Obstructing The Vision?

Last July I had cataracts removed from my eyes. My eyes feel swollen underneath and this impedes my vision. I have puffy bags under my eyes which I never had before. I feel as if the lens are in the wrong place. When outside I have to always wear sunglasses even if it is dull and cloudy - something I never had to do before.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have swelling under the eyes obstructing the vision is mainly allergic contact dermatitis. It could be due to infection of skin and hair follicles as they can also cause similar bumps. There can also other reasons for dark spots under eyes like deprivation of sleep , dehydration , excessive exposure to sun and fatigue . I would suggest you to visit dermatologist once as clinical assessment of the bumps is necessary for diagnosis. You can consult with ophthalmologist as well. Till then You can use topical mild steroid cream like hydrocortisone creams. You can give child antihistamine orally. Drink plenty of water to drink. Wipe the area under eyes with wet tissues as well. Give him diet rich in multivitamins. You can try with topical eye antibiotics as well and avoid all type of cosmetics around eye .
