What Causes Swelling On The Wrists?

I have swelling (bulging) on the inside of both wrists and bruising in my right one (left handed). I have not injured either one. I have been sewing a lot and I do have arthritis, particularly in my fingers. It this a serious problem that I need to consult with a doctor immediately, or not an issue to worry about?
