What Causes Swelling On The Leg And Lump On The Ankle?

I have had a bump on the outer edge of my right knee for about a year. My legs tend to swell when I travel to mainland. Recently, 1 week ago I bumped my leg (1/2 way between knee and ankle. Very tender even now and a noticeable bump. Barely discolored. A few days ago on the inside of my ankle it has turned color, bruise like. I have also had spider veins on the inside of my knee. This is all on my right leg.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sometimes after injuries like a bump to the leg, the body heals though forming fibrous tissue on the long run. I think those bumps you described are simply old bruises that build up fibrous tissue or even fats during the healing process. Nothing to worry about.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ahmad Nazzal, General & Family Physician
