Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I noticed this morning that my feet appear to be swollen. My wife mentioned it before I asked her. I am 70 years old and had a mild stroke (no hemorrhaging) a bit more than a year ago and take a lot of high blood pressure medications. It is hot here in Albuquerque. What s up?
Certain medications for management of hypertension can cause swelling of the legs and feet. Low serum protein levels can also cause leg swelling. If you have T2 Diabetes, this also can cause swelling of the legs and feet. The best management for controlling the swelling is to wear compression stockings grade 2 , toes to mid-thigh in the morning when the swelling is minimal, wear it throughout the day, and remove it at night before sleeping.
