What Causes Swelling, Numbness And Redness On The Middle Finger?

My middle finger on my right hand has become red and swollen in the last 24 hrs. It is stiff and numb. The redness is spreading around to the back of the finger today - was just the palm side yesterday. No injury has occurred and nothing has happened to the finger. It just started swelling and changing color.

In my opinion I think it is due to a newly developed infection which has developed in your fingers. Consult your physician/surgeon/orthopedician for the same, and a local radiograph or x-ray may be advised and an antibiotic will be prescribed for the same condition. Try not to squeeze your finger. Consult as soon as possible and look if there are any pus points visible.
