What Causes Swelling In The Upper Lip?

I mowed yard and shortly after my upper lip started swelling, as did my eyes, tongue, and the area under my nose went numb. My eyes were red and almost swollen shut. On top of that my feet and hands were so itchy. I've never had any allergies or issues like this before. I could barely talk much less swallow the antihistamines my neighbor happened to have. There are no bug bites on my body. Could mowing the yard caused such havoc on my system?
