What Causes Swelling In The Fingers?

What are possible causes of swollen fingers? My husband has been fighting a severe cold, heavy congestion, cough, and fever over the past weekend. Over the past 24hrs., two fingers on his right hand have swollen. He has not injured his hand. Could this be from a lingering infection in his body?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to gout(high uric acid level in blood). You can rule out this by checking uric acid levels. In such case NSAID drugs like ibuprofen will be helpful.
Hope this may help you.Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
