What Causes Swelling In The Ankles And Joint Pain?

Hello i have suffered from swollen ankles for about 7 years now, and it is getting worse now the fluid is traveling up my leg, i rest both of my feet i suffer in both feet, i went on holiday and had to do a lot of walking about i was in agony the pain was in my joints as well as my feet i have been home a week now and the swelling still has,nt gone, i was given increased dose of water tablets theygo down on a morning but less than an hour they are back to normal, please can you tell me is there any treatment for this my doctors say they cant help i am willing to go private pay for treatment, i am desperate for some kind of help yours hoping miss j bell.
