What Causes Swelling In Eyes?

I woke up a month ago with swollen eyelids that lasted 4 days...right eye so bad half open. After a week was better. Went to my primary at that time not that swollen. He said might be allergy-did urine test. Since I went to eye dr, and dentist had a ct scan of teeth- all fine. The pain in my right ear is intermittent and into lower jaw at times. My eyes today are noteably puffy/swollen top and bottom again today. I do not have pets, don t wear perfume and this is scaring me. Also notice my tongue is not totally red-some white on it. THIS IS NOT FREE INFO....AND I JUST MADE A DR. APPOINTMENT- AFTER READING THIS PAY FOR ADVICE. fOR ALL I KNOW THIS COULD BE SOME CLERK READING INFO ON WEB MD TO ANSWER MY CONCERN. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Swollen eyes in general are caused by problems in the kidneys. So I would suggest that you make sure to check the kidney function as well, if you haven't done already. Otherwise if you know that your kidney function it is normal, then allergy is the most possible option. To prove that, I would suggest that when it happens you use an antihistamine medicine like Loratadine, or Benadryl and if you are better in one hour or so, then you verify that it is allergy. Once verified that, just look carefully what might be causing it, what have you changed recently that has made you have that reaction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
