What Causes Swelling Between The Hip And Rib Cage While Suffering From Shingles?

I am getting over a case of shingles. I am a 63 year old male in good health. I have a large swelling on my left hand side, between my hip and rib cage. My doctor sent me for an ultra sound and nothing abnormal showed up, and my doctor believes it should clear up with the shingles. Its now been almost 5 weeks. Is this swelling caused by the shingles? I am taking Lyrica and tramadol for the pain which is made worse by the swelling.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an inflammatory swelling.

As the ultrasound is normal, nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
