What Causes Swelling And Stiffness In The Right Knee?

Hi. Is this question and answer time that we are sharing together right now a free service. If so, my question is this: I have left leg and knee swelling for approximately one week. It is stiff to bend and the swelling has not subsided at all. I have not injured it it any way that I am aware of. What could this be? I am a 53 year old female. Non-smoker.
