What Causes Swelling And Redness In The Feet, Ankle And Calf?

I have noticed, well I guess in the last month or so, that after I walk a lot, which I do at work, my feet, ankles and calf area become swollen. This doesn t happen all the time, but maybe once a week. I also wear military type boots, and where the top part of the boot touches my inner-calves, on my left leg, a red, looks like blood just under the surface, mark appears and is about 3 inches long and about one inch in width. It s not tender to the touch or painful at all. In fact yesterday I walked in Austin at the green belt, probably over 7 miles and only noticed the swelling and red mark after the walk.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

First you need to do a urine examination to exclude albuminuria as the most common cause of swelling.
There are many causes of loosing Albumine with urine but first you need to confirm it.

Best wishes,
Dr. Mirjeta
