What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Top Crease Of The Leg?

I have had gradual pain in the top crease of my left leg . I had a complete hip replacement on my right hip on April 1 2014 .. It actually started on the right side .. Orthodontist said he thought it was tendon . I hurt in both creases of my legs for a few months the it got to be mainly in the left . It is very painful to get up and down and even trying to sleep .. It has starting to swell .

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Patient,

it could be an inflammation of the tendon of the side-upper leg muscle, but it could also be activated arthritis of the left hip. An orthopedic doctor can examine your leg/ hip and if there is doubt about the left hip do an x-ray of it to check if it is arthritis or just the tendon. Until then you can take antiinflammatory medication like ibuprofen or similar after checking with your treating doctor. Hope you get better soon, if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards
