What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Small Finger?

I think I possibly may have broken my hand but I dont have health insurance and want to avoid going to the ER if I can. It s on the pinky where my knuckle is. It seems a little swollen and it is painful but I can still move it and make a pretty tight fist. Do you think I broke something?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Underlying fracture can only be identified by taking a Xray.
Please be advised to follow up with an urgent care/ ER to get a Xray done.
Meanwhile, give adequate rest to affected finger, apply ice and take ibuprofen (if not allergic) for pain, you can also buy finger splint to immobilize the finger to help healing.

Hope this answers your question
