What Causes Swelling And Pain In Rectum With History Of Herniated Disc?

I have ruptured my L1 L2 disc in Jan.....and I originally had the buttocks pain that goes with it but now I am having shooting pains in the right side of my rectum....It s been on going for several weeks....is this a symptom of an L1 L2 herniation or is it more serious like rectal cancer ? I did notice a profusion in my rectum (not a hemorrhoid) on the right side while I was showering the other night . A slight bulge in the rectum wall ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It needs an anoscopy examination then diagnosis can be made of hemorrhoids. Take a surgical opinion for this. Yes, shooting to rectum area or more accurately groin area via L1, 2 lesions occurs, orthopedic spine surgeon can help in this , cold compressions lightly, topical analgesic may help symptomatically.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
