What Causes Swelling And Numbness In The Legs After Shingles?

My mother is experiencing nerve pain after a bout of shingles (we are on week 3) The pain is along the left side of her leg (hip) down to her foot. Her foot does swell and is numb often. She is diabetic and on Metaformin, Amlodipine for her HBP and a medication for high cholesterol. Her Dr. has her on Gabapentin for the nerve pain but there seems to be no change. Today I gave her one 250mg Excedrin pill and it did offer her some relief but the numbness continued. I am concerned about the constant swelling and numbness she is experiencing given that she is diabetic. Is this just the normal course in the healing process after shingles?

Hi, yes it takes 21 days to cure. But in some it can continue longer. Give her a high dose of B complex. If she does not improve, she may need a steroid course--regards
