What Causes Swelling And Mild Pain In Right Foot After Injury?

Hello. The top of my right foot has been swelling since a roller bladeing accident years ago. It also feels like the bottom of my foot swells also. The pain level isn t high. Its a light to medium throb and is more uncomfortable then painful. It can also sometimes throw off my balance if standing still. I don t think its a break because there was no bruising and i could move my foot (at the time i can only move my toes slightly, although my toes are fine now) and the pain is not extreme. My real question is, is treatment worth it? I don t want to have to pay medical expenses if there are no real treatments

Hello,

You are suffering from swelling and right foot pain after injury. For relieve you can take anti-inflammatory medications, it will help reduce swelling and pain. Give rest to the affected foot. Ice compression and elevation may help. As you also have foot swelling at the bottom. Your symptoms may be indicative of plantar fasciitis that occurs due to repetitive stress on the bottom of the feet.

Stretching from the heel towards the toes while skating and poor calf strength or flexibility may cause it. Physical therapy and night splints may be helpful. Do not put full weight on the affected foot. Custom-fitted arch supports (orthotics) may help to distribute the pressure on your feet more evenly. Get treated. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedics. Get X-ray done to detect ankle, foot or lower leg fracture, neuroma, sprains and tendonitis, etc. Fracture may present with pain, bruising and swelling that don’t quickly resolve. Get treated.

Always buy skates that are at least an inch or half-inch larger to give you a snug fit and are comfortable. The right socks and padding help by reducing friction between your feet and your inline skating shoes. This will help to avoid blisters that cause unending and irritating pain. Always use the right inline skate shoes, wear socks when rollerblading, use the correct skating technique. Avoid over skating, and train your leg and feet muscles more.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
