What Causes Swelling And Bruising Around The Ankles?
Hi so I fell yesterday on a step and I missed the step and I tried to catch myself but I think I may have sprained my ankle it is not as swollen as it was yesterday but it is bruised a bit and I can even walk on it and my parents won't let me use churches
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that due to sudden trauma there has been inflammation of the soft tissues and also rupture of superficial blood vessels leading to swelling and bruising and there can also be Hematoma formation.. As you are able to walk and put weight on the feet as well as the swelling has reduced you need not to worry as there seems nothing serious and you do not need crutches.. You can do cool compresses over the swelling.. Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen or Naproxen as it will help in reducing swelling, pain and inflammation.. You can apply Heparin gel to reduce bruising faster. Elevate you relief while lying down.. Yo can apply analgesic ointment and tie a crape bandage or an ankle strap..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
